It’s a generation ship, right? So it has to keep going for a long time—or at least into a second season. Just ahead of the show’s first-season finale, Syfy has renewed The Ark, the space colonization series from Stargate SG-1 alums Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner.

The show’s summary explains:

The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One encounters a catastrophic event causing massive destruction and loss of life. With more than a year left to go before reaching their target planet, a lack of life-sustaining supplies and loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course and survive.

Those folks trying to be their best selves in terrible situations are played by Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Read and Ryan Adams.

According to VarietyThe Ark set two records for Syfy: The show had “the best in total viewers since January 2021, reaching 1.1 million, and best in the 18-49 demo since October 2021.”

If you haven’t yet experienced this take on the terrifying void of space, you can watch the trailer here, or catch the season on Peacock. The first-season finale airs April 19th on Syfy, arriving on Peacock the next day. No premiere date has been announced for season two.
